Highlights of a community-involved life in Mississauga:

• Longtime resident of Mississauga, living in Wards 3 and 6

• Extensive public service in Mississauga, having formed ratepayer groups, petitioning various levels of government, introducing a Neighbourhood Watch program, chairing School Council groups, serving on ratepayer committees, coaching Mississauga Monarchs basketball teams, acting as long-term president of a local tennis club.

• Politically active, serving as a Peel School Board trustee, Provincial Liberal candidate, Mayoral candidate

• A team player – over the years, working with such politicians as Mayor Hazel McCallion, MP’s Dr. Bob Horner, Carolyn Parrish and Omar Alghabra, MPP’s Harinder Takhar, Steve Mahoney and Steve Offer, and City Councillors David Culham, Larry Taylor, George Carlson and others, as well as numerous Peel School Board trustees.

• Retired Secondary School teacher with Toronto District School Board

• Co-owner of Chimo Publishing

 

Community and Political Activities:

• Recipient of the Government of Canada’s Certificate of Merit in recognition of contribution to the community.

• President and founding member of Central Creditview Residents’ Association

• Delegated Peel Board of Education to extend busing for grade 7 & 8 students

• Produced and distributed residents’ association newsletter

• Petitioned MP Dr. Bob Horner to extend door-to-door mail delivery in Creditview

• Worked suiccessfully with Deer Run Residents’ Association and Councillors David Culham and Steve Mahoney to get two parks built and downsize the local plaza in Creditview and Deer Run areas

• Produced, with Deer Run Residents’ Association, a 164-page proposal entitled “A School for Creditview,” which was presented to the Peel Board of Education

• 2-term President / Director of Springfield P.S. School Council

• Two children who attended Peel public schools – Springfield, Hillcrest and Clarkson
